Three little ghostesses,
Sitting on postesses,
Eating buttered toastesses,
Greasing their fistesses,
Up to their wristesses.
Oh, what beastesses
To make such feastesses!

Happy Halloween!

A tiny part of a new painting underway. A painting within a painting if you will 😉

So I (think) I’ve finished the last two paintings I posted about but will sit with them for a few days to make sure. In the meantime, here’s the next in line.

And if you need a little boost, here’s a thought for the day. Go on, you can do it! 💪✨

Progress...wondering where it’s going to go. Right now it’s very full and I am looking at it trying to figure out what to edit and what to keep.

Thanks to all who dropped by the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair. It was a great weekend with challenging weather. High heat, humidity and even a thunderstorm thrown in for good measure ;P
I met so many interesting people and fellow art lovers. And thank you to Tiffany Pratt who tagged my tent - sorry we never got to meet!

Toronto Outdoor Art Fair THIS weekend!

I’d like to invite you to the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair this weekend at Nathan Phillips Square. Over 350 artists will be showcasing their work.
One event I’d like to highlight this year is the Budding Art Buyers booth. Various TOAF artists have donated small works priced from $10-$20—specially for this weekend—for purchase to kids 14 and under. I am so excited by this initiative because it is a fantastic way to foster a life-long appreciation of the arts. As a kid I loved and was moved by art and the chance to buy an original piece would have been amazing!
This 6x6 abstract painting is titled “Moonlight” and is my donation to the program.
The (free!) fair runs THIS Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Nathan Philips Square, 10-7 (Friday & Saturday), 10-5 (Sunday).

In other news, I’m happy that “Lotus” found a home yesterday! A warm thank you to the owner! If you’re interested in looking at anything and are local, please feel free to message me and drop by my studio. If you’re out of town, feel free to check out my website, www.kimrempel.com. It is newly updated and marked with titles, sizes and prices.
Here are a few screen shots to give you an idea ✨

New work and the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair.

presently untitled / 20x20in / oil on canvas

Oil painting no. 2
Loving this process!

ALSO: a week from today I will be at Nathan Phillips Square for the 58th Annual Toronto Outdoor Art Fair! Come one, come all : ) This free art fair is a must-see. Hundreds of talented artists will be gathered together exhibiting what they've been working on for the past few months. Throw in some food trucks, art chats, a refillable water station and a beer garden and you have the makings of a very pleasant weekend <3 350="" at="" can="" e.="" find="" me="" p="" tent="" you="" zone="">

New Work + Boot Camp

A month ago I travelled to Woodstock, NY to take a workshop from the fabulous Jenny Nelson. I had wanted to explore painting abstract in oil (which is a whole other animal from acrylic) but needed a boot camp. I found it :)
Here is my first oil - which I intend to paint with for the foreseeable future. I am absolutely loving the process. *presently untitled / 20x20in / oil on canvas

Cloud 9

A few years back when I joined Facebook and Instagram I let my blog lapse because it was just One. More. Thing. And I questioned whether people still enjoyed getting this info in blog form.
But after re-thinking the whole scene I've decided to revive it and see if this format is still enjoyed by followers.
The past couple of years I have continued painting primarily abstract works. Once and a while I paint a few landscapes because they have been an important part of my practice and I can't resist a good tree ;)
Here is one of my recent paintings, Cloud 9.
36 x 48in / acrylic on canvas / $1900
