In the studio...

Hello all! You may not be able to tell from this shot but I'm starting work on a new tree painting for a show in spring. Tomorrow I should be able to start putting paint on canvas. Drawing is almost complete.
In other news we had our first snow yesterday and we woke up to a winter wonderland. I snapped a few pictures on my way to work this morning...so pretty.

Pastry stack

This is the fourth painting of the pastries I painted last week. These were all from The Watering Can pastry shop. Mmm...
I have been painting small oils again in anticipation of The HandMade Market in two weeks time. It's that time of year again!
Meanwhile I am starting work on some landscapes and thinking of some abstracts that I'm itching to get too as well : )

Candy

This is a second painting of my shiny, colourful candy. I looked for some quotes online about candy and this one made me laugh. I don't know this book, but perhaps I'll have to check it out.

“Of course." He picked up the brown bag of candy on the table. "What's your..." He trailed off as he weighed the bag in his hands. "Didn't I give you three pounds of candy?"
She smiled impishly.
"You ate half the bag!"
"Was I supposed to save it?"

Lemon Tart

I thought the three pastries from yesterday were so lovely they each needed their own painting. So this is a lemon tart topped with meringue and a thin slice of dehydrated pineapple, capped with a plump blueberry. The pineapple cut and dried this way resembles a beautiful flower. I love it and it tasted delicious!

Pastry Shop

A new pastry shop opened up close by at The Watering Can. This is lovely news for me! I bought these beauties to paint - aren't they gorgeous-looking sweets? Just so happens that this pastry shop opened up inside my favourite florist shop. Yep! Win-win.
