Today I did a studio session at Lauries. This is a detail of the piece I was working on. It was a real struggle interjected with a lot of sighing. But it was my own darn fault because I did not fully work out my composition before I began painting. A pretty basic thing to forget! Sometimes you get lulled into complacency! So. Lesson learned. I am not abandoning it yet - I have some ideas that may pull it from the ashes.
This is acrylic on stretched canvas, 16"x20".

I really like where this one is going...
Am I crazy for loving it. As far as I'm concerned you could stop right now and it would be perfect.

I agree with the above comments, Kim.
Don't know if you know of Wolf Kahn's art (my hero) but he likes the challenge of jumping directly into nature's "chaos." and finding order within. He abhors preliminary sketches, depending instead on the evolving struggle as he wrestles with the painting.
I love everything about this painting.
On the other hand, I tell all my students to do value studies first, 'cause that also has it;s own way of working. Go figure.
I find this painting very pleasing. I think it is the subject matter and colors.
I love this detail!!! If the rest of the piece works out like this section you have a winner!
This is BEAUTIFUL! I would love to see the whole picture.
