Guinness

I've decided to do a few paintings for St. Patrick's Day. This little toucan was a gift from my nephew who lived in Ireland for a year - I've painted him before. It is part of a salt & pepper shaker set. The toucan was used in advertising for the company for many years, debuting in 1935.
6" x 6" / oil on panel / $75

Love that Toucan...so cute! I also like that bold turq. horizontal behind the strong vertical of the can. Good job and Happy St. Patty's!

Love the strong values in this painting. And the blue stripe seems to take the eye around the whole painting, stopping off at all the blue touches everywhere. I also happen to be partial to Guinness!

My husband loves Guinness, I'll have to show this to him when he gets home! I adore the toucan and I agree with Catherine about the blue stripe, it really ties it all together.

Thanks. I am going to have to try that can again. Painting a shiny reflective black can with a bit of type on it was tough. I think I learned a few things along the way and want to try another stab at it. In this case, I would feel more comfortable with acrylics. Kerri - you did such a perfect job on your Monopoly game!
