Cedar clump study and Mount Baker WIP

This is a study I did on location. The mosquitoes were nasty so I painted through my bug jacket hood screen. I had to slather my hands with bug spray and they still got bit. Not one of the finer bits I enjoy about plein air painting but I can still say it was a beautiful spot.

Below is a painting my son did yesterday. It is from a photo his aunt took of Mount Baker in Washington at sunset. He is still toying with the colour of the sun hitting the mountain but personally I wouldn't change it! We all have to follow our own vision though.

Wow - he has his Mum's talent! It's gorgeous - my kind of scene :0)
And I really like your plein air painting. And if there are a few mosquitoes stuck to it, it will surely only up the value as there would be no question of it not being done on location, lol! :0)

Let him know I really like his interpretation of Mt Baker at sunset. And in real life, the colour was a strong, vibrant pink when the snow was reflecting the setting sun for those few minutes.

Love your painting- especially painted under such awful conditions. Hate mosquitoes! Thanks for sharing your son's work also- I love the light on the mountain.

Super art by both artists.

Miss you. I'm in Nova Scotia, hard to get on the internet.

XOXO Barbara

Your son has quite a talent Kim!! And I think your sense of color too, his piece is beautiful and moving. I love the moody feel. If he's changed it tell him I'd like to see the update, and if he hasn't tell him I'd like to see more of his work. He's so good!!

Oh yeah, and your piece is fantastic too my friend. But that's just to be expected of someone as awesome as you.

PS You win the valiant painter award for putting up with all those mosquitos. Aren't we happy spiders can't fly like that? Har har har.

Hi Kim,
I had to tell you that on Saturday I happened to be in Niagara on the Lake, and happened on a lovely little gallery/giftshop/fabric shop there...and i noticed a beautiful painting hanging behind the cash...i looked at the info tag, and it was one of yours! it was really lovely! You are a courageous woman out there with the mosquitos! Your son obviously will be an artist too:)
