Hmm...been feeling a bit of a painting struggle the past few days. I hate it when that happens. I (think!) I've learned over this past year that this comes and goes so not to get too freaked out. But it's still bothersome when you're going through it, yes? Anyhow - this is another in my morning series. Yesterday was a lovely vessel for drinking tea, today a cup and saucer. I think I'm going to end my morning paintings for now (short-lived as it was :) and move on to fresh garden produce. The markets are full right now, so paint it while you got it!

Lovely color in this cup Kim. I like the handle shape too.
Great job on that shiny porcelain! Love the underside of the saucer where the table is picked up in the reflective surface and the shadow that is created on the cup by the spoon. The yellow/blue and white is such a beautiful combo!

Usually I have found that a down time in painting is actually a growing, refreshing time and may preface a new direction or spirit in painting. You certainly work hard enough--it's okay to have a respite!

Hi Kim, I am enjoying your morning series. I certainly can relate to being in a bit of a slump. I think we need a new muse from time to time to get the juices flowing. Your work has a lovely painterly quality that I really like.
There is comfort in knowing people I consider established, wonderful artists go through slumps too. Universal! It's so nice having a community where people encourage one another and buck each other up ; ) Thanks for the encouragement!
