"The Old Guards", Canadian landscape painter, Kim Rempel
Someone mentioned the other day that my landscapes had quite a different feel to them than my still life work. I know! You know, I've painted plein air for years, in acrylic, and just last year began still life, and only began using oils last October after my workshop with Carol Marine. And it just seems this is the way it comes out. Even now, most all of my plein air painting is done in acrylic. Perhaps I will try doing more daily oil paintings plein air, and see what develops. But for now, I just have these different ways I paint depending on the medium I use. This piece was done a couple of years ago at a beautiful property in Ancaster, Ontario.

Very nice, Kim. I like those beautiful colors in the sky and greens in the trees.
LOVE it. I hope you do more of these too!
I hadn't noticed that you use oil for your still life's. They must take an age to dry! I'm curious to know why you choose the oils over the acrylics for the still life's?
Your friend is right, these landscapes do have a different feel to them. Equally as nice but in an entirely different way :0)
By the way - Thank you for visiting my blog! It's always so lovely when a new face appears! I really appreciate your interest - hough I have a long way to go before I reach your standard !
I like this- the trees look like they're dancing...
Beautiful Kim. The movement leads you right to the friendly little house which will be warm and inviting when you reach there. :)
Hi again Kim!....A nice landscape! Being outdoors with whatever medium results in a "different look".
Painting en plein air involves situations and circumstances that distract from comfy studio work. Weather... constantly changing light... insects and of course... the wind all add and subtract from one's usual...."style".
I think it's great to not be slotted with a single ...familiar and predictable look. It makes your work appear different for sure... but that's great in my opinion!
Good painting! It's September Kim... Ready at this end!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
BEAUTIFUL!! I love the movement in the trees :)
You know I think they do have a different feel, but they're still marked as a 'Kim' painting to me. All of your work has a very strong feeling to it. It must be because you love what you do :)
And I just barely found out about Carol Marine, jeez what rock have I been hiding under? She's pretty awesome, how cool that you got to take one of her workshops!
Love the loose, painterly look. I think versatility is great.
This is fabulous. I am somehow just not able to gain confidence on acrylics
I'm so glad I found your blog. I love your work-both acrylics and oils.
I like these 2 landscapes, they do feel different to do them in oil. It would be fun to do a painting in each medium to see the results. I love your group collection you displayed. They look great, you should have a successful show!
marvelous!! I liked very much!
hugs!! ;)
I like the contrast!
