Here's the second one. The coulours here are more amped up than reality - I was playing around. I hope to do another painting in the next week that is a more careful "finished" painting as opposed to these coloured painting sketches. You learn something with every piece though! This is acrylic on Terraskin.

Hi Kim!... You have certainly captured the mediaeval essence that still exists in this part of the world... in places... wonderfully!
The terra skin is a lovely silky surface to work on... but takes some getting use to the way it takes paint! It is great for use in the field because it returns to flat... immediately... even if it has been rolled up before.
Loved your photo exuberance... and the sculptural details. Unbelievable as you implied... given the absence of power tools. All of that drillwork... by hand! Mind boggling isn't it!

Like the others have said Kim, the colours here are really cool. Don't have the artsy words for it, but I love it. Seems so alive.
I love these so called less finished pieces. They are beautiful, and make me feel like I'm there. You are allowed to amp the colours. In fact you were put on the planet to do what you're doing. So great.
