"Bus!" work in progress + a sketch

This is for my youngest niece who is currently enthralled with buses. I don't usually draw vehicles (stayed away from them because all the precise bits scared me) but if it's buses she likes, a bus I paint! Tomorrow I'll finish the windshield, road and sky. Wish me luck. I would hate to mess it up now.
Speaking of vehicles, I had to bring ours in for the Drive Clean test for license renewal. Across the street is a nice market so I had a cookie + coffee and did a sketch to pass the time. Now that I've made up my mind to regularly sketch, I cart my book around and I'm finding lots of opportunities to pull it out and do a quick study. Happy Thursday.

Kim, Where did you get a bus to sit still? Oh yeah, between the hours of nine to 3. Nicely done . . . so far. I'm liking the look. Takes me back to a time long ago when they were a dark part of my past. They would drop us off at something akin to a jail for 6 hours each day. The hi-lite of the day was definitely the drive home!

I just love the brush strokes on the front of that yellow brush! The windshield actually looks finished to me...I'll be interested in seeing how you finish this out. I know your niece will love it!

I LOVE the bus! They don't look like that in the UK. I so enjoy your sketches :0)

Great post, Kim, and I love seeing another of your wonderful sketches. You have inspired me to start keeping my sketchbook handy, too.
The bus is really special-reminds me of the many years that I waved good-bye to my students every afternoon and hated to see them go. I loved teaching as much as I love painting now.

Don't worry about the bus, you've done the hard part, and it looks fabulous. What a great sketch too. What kind of pen were you using? Awesome astoundingly great work.

Kim, the bus is off to a great start. And I love the sketch- it's beautiful. I was honestly just thinking that I should get a book to carry with me so I can sketch when a moment pops up. The life drawing sessions are good, but once a week is not enough to build up skills at the rate I would like to improve.

the wheels on the bus go round and round...wonder if you sing that song in Canada? Fun painting and keep sketching and posting them.
