Today I'm posting Branches in April. One of my favourites : ) This was actually a landscape painting of some trees, shrubs and a pond but it was just not working. It hung around my studio for a while and then one day I went to paint some fruit tree branches and grabbed this canvas. I began painting over the old piece, blocking in my new branches (the original painting now being on it's side). After I had them blocked in I began to paint in the sky. As I was painting, the dark purple lines from the old trees were starting to look pretty interesting so I decided not to cover them all up. If you analyze the logic in this piece, it does not make sense. But I think you really feel the branches - just one of those cool things that happens sometimes.

Very nice! The colors and abstract quality is so appealing. Good job!!
Kim, this is awesome! Very dynamic, interesting and creative.
Kim this painting is very intriguing, I quite like it.
Definitley unique.
Mondrian would have done so well. Very nice, Kim!
Well I just LOVE it! I paint over old paintings all the time - although I love a fresh canvas, too! I wouldn't worry about people not being able to 'follow' the branches - it's a FEELING of the branches - and lovely!
As you already know, I LOVE this one! Oddly enough, I had a feeling it would be posted when I logged on to your blog today - glad I was right!
Oh my goodness...how do I express how much I love this one? LOVE it!
Those areas of isolated blue are mesmerizing. So glad you followed your instinct and let this creative beauty emerge!
Thank you!
Wow, Kim. I love this. The warm colors are so natural, and they really jump out from the darks behind and the cooler tones of the sky. A wonderful abstraction of nature.
I also was blown away by "Apple Blossoms," on your site. Great work.
So...would you consider making full-size prints of this one to sign and sell since you (understandably) want to hold on to the original?
I love that!
This painting really speaks to me..lovely
I am soooo on board with loving this painting. It almost has a stained glass effect. Really stunning.
