I remember it standing in a lovely wood bookshelf that had sliding glass doors, at the bottom of her stairs. I would stare and stare at it, sometimes asking my Grandma to take it out so I could look at it close-up. Her peachy silk garment looked exotic to me but I think what I loved most was the red sparkling flowers studded with tiny pearls in her hair. That, and her tiny peridot earrings.
I don't feel precious about it now, except for the memory of how much I treasured it as a child. What about you? Can you remember any items that caught your imagination as a child? Do you go back to a certain place when you think of it?

She will be remembered forever in your art - I think it is gorgeous, reproduced as a painting - very lovely !
this is beautifully done Kim. You are doing really great work
this is gorgeous Kim and I love the story behind it.
Now back to the shoes!!!! I am loving them. I think I will paint a pair in your honour.
HI Kim!! :):)
She is beautifull, I love how you've painted her. And the story is so sweet, I remember feeling the exact same way about a bottle of perfume my grandma had, it was milky, white glass in the shape of a lamb. I don't think it smelled very good, but I loved that bottle!!
I loved this fun post :)
Lovely painting and story, Kim.
I have a cast iron garden gnome that belonged to my Grandmother. I had written a poem about it years ago and just acquired the piece itself after my brother's passing. He had taken possession of it when my Grandmother passed on. Now it has come home to me. He has a broken foot and his nose is a bit worn on the end but he's still a special little gnome.
oh Kim ... are many items that are in my memory! I loved to watch the prints of the curtains, and dresses!
I liked the way that you painted here
half unfinished, it was great!
