Today I hade a terrific studio visit with a friend/fellow artist I've recently begun to know. It was great to talk shop (!) and then we got on the topic of art education. We had a lot to say! Remember painting with those tempera "pucks" on newsprint? And then how it would flake off on your way home from school? And those chunky hogshair brushes that left stray bristles on your artwork? Ugh! I would love to get into a classroom and do some sessions with quality materials. My dream is to take a class outdoors for plein air painting - with canvasses! and real brushes!! Ach...as you can see we got quite fired up over our visit! : ) Here's to art education. This may be a whole other post in the near future.
Anyway, today I painted this cupcake. And had fun ; ) And this "good food" reminds me of the "Good Earth" this weekend! I will be there with my daily paintings Saturday and Sunday from 11-5. 40 awesome vendors + delectable food + wine = Mother's Day planning solved!

Big YUM!! My favorite part is the shiny strawberry, great job!
Love it! The strawberry has the perfect sheen! Makes me want to run to the bakery and sample one of these!
ooh, can I come!!! This is brilliant :0D
Remind me where "Good Earth" is. Thanks, Karin Lynn
Hi Karin - I just sent you a personal email but for anyone else reading, The Good Earth is located at 4556 Lincoln Ave., Beamsville. Their website is http://www.goodearthfoodandwine.com/
Wonderful painting and great post. I actually loved painting with tempra paint and bad brushes, but I was a kid, what did I know. A teacher like you would have sent me right over the moon. For now your paintings have the same effect.
XOBarbara (from New York yay!!!)
