Above and below: details of my favourite parts
Today was another studio day at Laurie's. I carried on with my reclaiming old canvasses series and this is what happened today! I still have a bit more work to do on it which I'll try and get completed tomorrow. But I'm really happy! Let me take you through the process:
Do you remember when I posted this one? Ugh. Well anyway, this is what I started with, but I tipped it on its side.
Next I sketched in my drawing with willow charcoal (I know it's probably hard to see and a little confusing). I love that stuff! Then I began painting the corner of the table.
This is what it looked like the next time I took a picture. Almost done!

Great painting Kim, Love it, great colour work with this one. You are making great strides.
Wow. This is all very exciting stuff you are doing with the reclaimed canvases! I can hardly wait to see the end result.
Does the charcoal not get mixed in with the paint and make it muddy or discoloured?
So rich! I love what happens (sometimes) when you start with an old painting. This is a great example of a successful redo!
Its looking awesome Kim! I really like your composition too!
Really like your still life, the colours and especially the pears. How big is the canvas?

amazing!! this series is so exciting! i love watching the canvases morph into these incredible paintings! bravo! the still life has so much depth and charm, beautifully done kim!
This is gorgeous Kim! I love those pears in the bowl. And I'm so happy to see you working big, it's kind of funny what a different feel it gives isn't it? (Says the girl who has been working small for like ever) :)
I also love seeing one canvas transformed in to something completely new! If your paintings are ever x-rayed in 100 years, what a surprise they will get!
It seems to give the new painting a whole new level of intrigue and interest! Love it! :0)
I am thoroughly enjoying your "reclaimed, recycled, repainted" series, Kim! This one is wonderful!
