Dawn

So I suffer from this thing sometimes of painting over paintings that have been sitting around too long or that had something about them that bothered me. More often than not this is a good thing because a better piece emerges. Other times it goes south. But that's okay. This painting was this piece:
As you can see I turned it upside down and the little pink "olive" is now in the bottom left quadrant.
Now it feels right though!
And speaking of going over paintings, the piece I showed on my last post is now covered in gesso ; )

Hi Kim,

I do love what you do. I'm sure there's a mystery about the "olive"
but I'd have to talk to the artist to know what that is. Awesome work.

XO Barbara

Oh I so know what you mean..I paint over a lot of canvases.....probably sometimes too quickly and then wonder why......BUT, I would never have liked it if I had left them......Do we "grow out of" some of our "masterpieces" or are they "just the incorrect image" that is supposed to "be?" .....Alot of artists feel as the sculptor feels......the finished work of art is there......we just have to uncover it. You will uncover the image that is destined for that particular canvas......a fabulous quality masterpiece that will "SING."
