Hi Kim,

This is beautiful! You really nailed that deep, rich, velvety burgundy/ black. This pansy is like a jewel. My grandmother loved this flower and they always make me think of her.

Beautiful, Kim. You did nail it! Here in Florida, we plant pansies in the winter. They always remind me of my grandmother who had a big patch of them. So thanks, for the memories.

Pansies in the winter. Can't imagine : )
Nicki - I'm glad it brought you a memory of your Grandmother. Sweet Williams do that for me.
And Rick - you should holiday here in January sometime - then you 'd see why we get all excited for a 14˚ day in March : )
Linda and Shell - thanks : )

Wow. I think we're on a wavelength. I've been waiting for this day, and wow this is so quintessentially pansy. Beautiful!

Take care,

Barbara

Kim this is a wonderful little gem! The cropping is interesting and the deep purple is as lush as velvet. Dash of lime green really sets it off.

I've been browsing through your blog and must say that all of your work is just beautiful! But I just saw some pansies poking their heads up in my one tiny little flower bed so I thought I'd comment on this one. :)

I absolutely love it, it is so velvety looking. Beautiful.
