I'm doing a lilac series : ) This one is with a palette knife as well. The next couple will be painted with a brush. Thanks so much for your nice comments from yesterday!
p.s. I just had to share - a book I'd ordered came in today and I can't wait to delve in! Wayne Thiebaud!! Yay!

energy.colour,movement!
I'm loving this! Such a good use of values. Love the deep purple in the shadows and the pale lavenders in the light.
Une très belle interprétation... ce bouquet de lilas est plein de fraîcheur et je peux presque sentir l'odeur qu'il doit dégager...
Je vous souhaite une bonne lecture...
Bisous
Beautiful deep purple
I have yet to try knofe painting but I definitely intend to at some point. It's a really interesting effect!
Kim, I really like the thick paint on the vase and will be interested to see your brush painting. If you do the same composition then we can compare!
I love lilacs and have 4 bushes in my yard. These are bred to bloom in So. Ca, as most lilacs will not. Even they are rather lack luster - only a few blooms.
Great texture, Kim!
You are going to LOVE your new book! I have it and it is definitely a favorite. Just don't read it before bedtime--you will be so inspired you won't be able to sleep!
