It took a long time to think this one through as there was glitter, glass, pottery, metallic surfaces and reflections. I wanted to replicate the detail in the objects yet also handle them loosely. That's actually kind of tough! : ) There were lots of lessons here. Tomorrow I'm going to paint outdoors but I kept this arrangement set-up in my studio and may try it again Wednesday.Monday, November 15, 2010

I like how this is monochromatic, all shades of red and rose and pink. Great job on the reflections. I love the purple-pink shadows on the table!
It's really very beautiful. I like the weight of the darkness at the bottom. It is a good balance to all of the light, sparkly, feminine details.
This is a real winner! I appreciate all of the hard work to capture the different surfaces. I love the light in the piece and the fact that you captured glitter so perfectly!!

That balance is such a difficult one to get - and as always, you have managed it perfectly! The reflections are fantastic and the little glittery bits are so effectively painted! All of these Christmas creations are getting me in the holiday spirit :0) I must dig some of our decs out of the loft!
Let me just say, FAN-freakin-tastic. For real. Kim your work is so beautiful. And I know how tough it is to render detail loosely. I know because I suck at it. :)
The detail stands out nicely without being fussy...the blue sparklies on the right ornament are wonderful...mirrored by the blue in the cloth. A great painting. I could see that wonderful ornament in painting all by itself...hint hint :-)
