Spelt chocolate biscotti - SOLD

Today was a day of wipedowns. Geesh - a few days of not painting and it was like I forgot how ; ) Started off with wine bottles (1st wipedown, okay...it happens), moved on to shoes (2nd wipedown, frustrated), got about halfway into a ceramic soap dish, stood back and... (3rd wipedown, ready to pull out my hair, my husband decided we should go have lunch...lol) After lunch I cast about for a new subject and voilà - I saw my bag of favourite biscotti stacked up with all the things I had unpacked from my weekend show. There was one left. I liked the way the bag was a bit crunched and how the lone biscotti was peeking through the cellophane. And I really dig de la terre's packaging.

This is wonderful and even more so for the perseverance. I am proud of you! Really like the simple composition and the way you captured the shadowed wrinkled parts of the bag. And the cellophane= priceless:):)

Il n'est jamais facile de traiter les sujets les plus simples et je trouve ce petit sachet adorable... mais grrrrrr! j'aurais bien aimé goûter un peu de son contenu!
Gros bisous.

Well 4th time was a charm. Such a great painting out of such a simple composition. The crumbled bag and the biscotti peaking through is fabulous.

It's odd isn't it that if we take a break for a while from drawing or painting, we feel as though we've forgotten how to do it the next time we pick up the brush! I wish I could paint every day - For me, once a week is all I have time to do! You seem to find inspiration in the simplest things, lol!

Love the idea here. The description of your day perfectly explains your blog. You ate, you drank, you painted. Maybe you need to go for lunch with your husband first. Great painting. Hope your show was a success. The photographs look great.

Love this painting. Glad you were so successful after a frustrating start. I am with you. Been a little off in the painting department myself.

kim, i am deeply smitten with this painting, most especially after reading about the first three wipe downs!!! i do not have that kind of perseverance but will certainly consider not giving up so quickly now when frustrated...this is simply wonderful, everything about it just makes me smile. this is one of those perfect paintings that scratches every itch!

Love the way you painted the brown bag, Ms. Kim. I can totally relate to your frustration. I'm glad the 4th try left you with a gorgeous painting though :)

Wonderful painting! Love the close values, the grays and the gestural brush strokes . . . everything! So worth it to not give up!

I can feel your frustration! I say that painting sessions take so long because either it's going well and you don't want to stop or it's going poorly and you need to keep going until you get it right. You kept going until you got it right and it resulted in a great little painting!

You brought such excitement to the mundane.

So glad you kept going! How did you paint that back to look so crispy? Not an easy thing to do. Great composition!
